Go Up Go Down

I do alot of night detecting at Clearwater Beach, I wear my miners headlamp and a small hand held LED to check finds. To darn hot during the day and beach rake comes in around two am. Police have left me alone so far.

Not any more,

But I used to clip on a LED
reading light.

Just clipped it on my MD.

It had a light on a movable
wand that I could point
anywere and be hands free.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Only because I am new and like a kid at Christmas... I have gone in my backyard in the evenings when I get home to test my skills...I work at Lowe's and we have these really cool caps that have lights on the bills of the cap.  They are very bright and last a pretty good long time.  You can replace the batt when they seem to fade out.  This cap really works great when you have to look in the hole.  Lights it right up!  Also great when working on the car and walking the dog in the evening...

Enjoy... just wanted to share..

I used to search the beach where I used to live in the water of a night time. One trick i used to use was having a small torch tied to my search rod that way it was easy to see where the target was when it came to digging it out.
Anyone who was on the beach would not be able to see the light in the water either because you could get some very unsavoury people on the beaches after the pubs closed. Oh you also need another torch in your sieve so you can find out what the target was hehe

Go Up Go Down

I only go hunting at night, and half the time I go alone.  I use a head mounted LED light and a good beach scoop.  Hunting dry sand is just as easy at night as during the day.  Hunting wet sand at night is a little tougher and a good pin-pointer helps a lot.

However...I am hunting the resort beaches of Okinawa Japan.  This is a very safe place, at least for a strong middle-aged man.  If I were a young girl, I would never consider hunting the beach at night, especially alone.  But for me, I enjoy having the whole beach to myself.
I saw youtube videos of people hunting the crowded beaches during the day.  That looked nearly as dangerous as hunting at night...!

Go Up Go Down

Hi fellas.
This time of year most of my detecting is done at night due to heat but basically I detect at night all year round.
EMI drops down to nothing, noises and  other distractions are minimal so concentration on the disgustingly faint signals is much better.
I tend to concentrate on what's in my headlight field instead of wandering off because that over there looks better or easier.

The only drama we have is the gynormous Orb weaving spiders that sit in the middle of thier webs at face height between trees.

Here's a link to my yootoob channel with plenty of night time detecting videos.
