I know how you feel about heavy rods and coils. Back in '09 I bought a hipstick and vest from detectoraid.com . It really helps redistribute the weight and makes for more comfortable detecting. Chris is a good guy and ships promptly. He'll custom-fit the hipstick to your required height.
