Go Up Go Down

I metal detect lost towns. What I mean is I detect towns that were lost in the construction of power dams. Towns that are submerged for 50 to 100 years and now all that remains is the foundations and footprints of the past. Places where the supports of an old footbridge lay 35 feet down underwater. Where visible doorway openings are still obvious in the stone construction of the home, mills, and other buildings. With Scuba gear and my Garrett Sea Hunter MKII I search these wonderful time capstels of the past and learn about the people that were there long ago. I glide effortlessly over the entire town in deathly quiet with only the sound of my bubbles as I exhale. One of the strangest feelings is when you break the surface of the water and you can look around and  see the present and then look down and see the past. My minds eye can see the people below interacting with their neighbors doing day to day tasks. Then the vision fades as the plight of modern day man is to be oblivious to the needs of his neighbor. I love being a treasure hunter.  Cool

Now that sounds fun.  I was just introduced to diving and have found being under water feels surreal.  Mate that with detecting old submerged towns and I would have a new addiction!  Just to mix it up maybe you could take a fishing line next time LOL.

lol, i see dead people. At 53 I can see footprints, no not really. What I can see are impressions that I believe are foot paths that lead to a foot bridge. 21 years in the Navy you can make yourself see just about anything. ha ha

The towns are all submerged as a result of putting in dams. Either hydroelectric or water storage. All are fresh water and I have not been diving in the great lakes. You can check for dams in your state by going to the National Directory of Dams at

No dams here in Michigan we are damned, but plenty of sunken ships to dive on. Have you ever done any type of salvage operation on any sunken ships.
