I have a Whites TM808 Detector that works perfectly. Detecting  It can locate big and deep objects.
My problem is I need a low cost detector that will find the smaller items 8-10" deep and coin sizes
It can be a vintage model as long as it will do the job.
Thanks in advance for your recommendation Amen

A good line of all round detectors that are reasonably priced is the Tesoro line. Any of their models from the Compadre up to the mightier machines are all workhorses of the highest order. My Compadre is one of my favorite machines. I've seen them sell for as little as $50.00 second hand. The retail is quite low.

Garrett makes some nice entry level machines. Try their Ace line of detectors.

You have a lot of choices these days. You'll probably enjoy the research into which detector to buy.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Whites Just came out with a Answer to Garrett with the New Coin Master.

I have Never owned any thing but OLD whites but I now there good from fellow folks out there that say so.

I like the Tones!  I do Note do Target ID.  Computers Lie!   I dig what it hears.

governton, when it comes to Tesoro, Garrett's, White's, and the newer First Texas Metal Detector products (Fisher F-4, Teknetics Delta 4000), it pretty much comes down to personal preferences.   If the visual cues aren't important to you and you're strictly looking for a rugged machine with bang for the buck, I'd give the Tesoros some real serious consideration.
