Took the mp3 out today.  Lots of false signals. Had to turn the sensitivity down to two bars.  I'm in normal soil and no EMI to speak of.  Is this normal with a large coil?  How am I going to go deep if I can't crank it up?  Any mp3 users comments?

I don't know anyone using the mp3 was hoping you would become our in house expert. What size coil are you using is it the stock coil?

Yes I read the manual.  Angry It says start out at the highest sensitivity and turn it down only if and when you get false signals.  So I did this until I was almost out of room to turn it down... 2 bars left on the scale out of a possible 6.  The coil is a stock 10 inch.  It comes with an 8 inch also if you order it that way.  You know, maybe this is normal.  More tests needed.  It sure gets heavy afte swinging that 10 inch coil for awhile.  I marked a few targets with golf T's but didn't dig them.  I'll tell you what I'll do.....Ahem....Ladies and Gentlemen!  Coming to a town near you!  DetectoCam!   With the new exciting DetectoCam you can watch the excitement as it unfolds right out in the field just as the technicians see it!

Hi ya Okletsee
I own a MP3pro,I got it 2004,it came with the 8" coil.I am thinking that the machine that you have is a newer unit "right"?.
The unit I have is not a bad machine at all. It does pick up alot of trash but that can be fixed by lowering the sensitivity one or two positions.I have not had very good luck with pin pointing with this unit,it will get you semi-close but I have seen better machines at pin pointing.
You may just need to reset the machine, not sure how to reset this unit.maybe try to contact tech. support from maker or retailer from which you got it from.....
I know it's not much but that's all  I can suggest.

hope all works out for you and your machine

Stevieo IF your havin trouble pinpointing, try raiseing the coil , if your machine has a pinpoint mode raise the coil and put it in the pinpoint mode . by doing this you are giving the detector a smaller target area to pinpoint with it's called detuning, this same method
is used when hunting  with larger coils when you only want to search for deeper target and ignor small surface junk

Thank you John
I will keep that in mind,i have no pin point on this machine but I will try raising the coil for a smaller detect spot.
Take care....
