I finally decided on the Tesoro Compadre to replace the Fisher F2 that I recently sold! I've read alot of great things about the Compadre and the lifetime warranty is a nice plus. I know some may think of it as a downgrade from the F2 but the visual ID on the F2 was always jumpy and inaccurate so I pretty much had to dig every good signal to know what was under the coil anyway! I'm hoping the Compadre will be able to find the stuff I left behind with when the Fisher kept telling me pulltabs or foil. Any tips or thoughts on learning the tone variations would be very helpful. Thanks. Scott

Congratulations.   The best tip I can give you is go "old school" and plant a finds garden so you can practice until you recognize them.    That and use a good headset

Thanks! That's good info. Need to get some decent headphones. I heard Calrad work well for a cheaper set?

I got a very nice set at Big Lots for 15.00. Even came with the 1/8 to 1/4 adapter!

Wow what a bargain! Thanks for the tip. Do they have a volume adjustment? I'll be in the desert with lotsa rattlesnakes so need I to be able to adjust if necessary. I just ordered some treasure wise (made by calrad) for 25 + free shipping. I was using some older sony's that I had for my home stereo, but they were painful after a couple hours or so of swinging. Thanks again
