Go Up Go Down

Hello again. Just before Christmas I took my niece on a little detecting trip. Funny thing, it was in her front yard. I have an old Tesoro Compadre that I had lent to my brother in law and my niece asked me one day when I was baby sitting her, could we try detecting in the front yard. Now, with her being the ripe age of 7, the detector in it's original setup was a little too long for her. I took out the metal shaft and just connected the lower shaft to the handle. Now it was the right length for her. After showing her how to swing the coil and how to overlap her sweeps, she was off and running. She had quite a afternoon of it! Here are some of her finds. These are just her keepers and we did find a bit junk, but she loved every minute of it.

Yup and wouldn't you know, while she was doing all the detecting, I was doing all the digging. A lot safer that way. Because when she digs, it looks like a badger tearing into a gopher hole. The first hole she tried to dig, I actually saw the penny fly away! but you know, we all get excited.

Don't you know it! She calls me at least once a week wondering when we will go again!
