I am thinking about a buying a new metal detector in the near future. I would be hunting coins and relics. What is a good detector at a reasonable price that will do what I need. Appreciate all replies.

At that price you are limited to a Bounty Hunter or a bottom of the line Tesoro. I suggest you shop ebay and try to find a Garrett 250 or a Tesoro Silver sabra  in that price range or add a 100 to it and get a new one for around 250
