Go Up Go Down

Hi, I'm new to metal detecting and have just purchased my first metal detector and as I live right next to a huge beach - I wanted a beach searching capable machine, I couldn't afford a decent Sovereign or similar so I was advised to look for one of the older Fisher models, after a little research I ended up buying a Fisher CZ7a(not pro) - still waiting for delivery, but at least I have paid for it.

I'm after some advice on this machine, just some thoughts or comments really, "do you think I will be ok with this machine seeing as it is my first"?, how easy is it to get on with for a newcomer?

Oh and also I live in the UK, but doesn't seem to be many people with anyything to say about this machine in general on the Forum I use, possibly because it is an older American detector - I don't know?.

Also I'm getting some CHEF CP3 headphones.

Thanks for any comments.(oh and you have some mental crazy Smilies on this forum   Cheesy)

Welcome from The State of New Mexico.

Mark, you should do well with that machine.

Just take your time reading the Manual a few times and dig everything for a while.

Hi Markymark.

Wonder if you are still using this forum since getting your Fisher CZ-7A. Also wonder how you have got on with it the MD.   I have had one for a couple of months now and just been out 3 times on fields   with it.  Found understanding the controls ok. But still learning that a indicated  nickel can be something different in the ground.

Love to hear your experiences with the machine.

Cheers Joe.

Hi smokeyjoe and welcome to the forum, from Melbourne Australia.
The key word here is “indicated”. The detector just giving you an indication of what it may be in the ground
Remember there is no better discrimination than your eyes
Keep digging all signals. Soon “nickel “will turn to gold rings

Hi All, thanks nickel_n for your comments.
Going to create a metals garden and take a few readings to understand more about what the MD is telling me.  While I not looking for gold just yet I think on my next outing writing down a record of tones, indication and actual result with depth should slowly build a picture of how my machine works.

The news has just come with news of the killing of the soldier in London, shocking.

Let you guys know how I get on with the CZ. Also thinking of getting one of the newer machines such as a Minelab. Will keep the CZ however as I want that for the beach.

Till the next time.   Cheers, good hunting.

HI Markymark
Welcome from Chilliwack, BC Canada. You are getting a very good machine. What size coil are you getting with it? Enjoy it, listen to it and keep practicing.
