saw these on the net and was wondering if anybody has tried them for night hunting, looking for one that can be used to see display on detector without being to bright so as not to draw too much attention and without affecting night vision,

Hi SKU,
Hadn't seen those before I do have a Russian night vision head attachment but no good for seing into a hole in darkness when a usful one does arrive I would like to see it, evening hunting has always appealed to me.
This one is great for iluminating warm life forms and one time we were using it in some bush but without effect we spotted a pack of Coy dogs coming our way so we did the right thing and got out to the road, not sure if they intended us for a snack............HH..........Johnnn

Ive got one of those on my keychain, but when detecting in the dark I really like my led headlamp. You can also get the headlamps with red leds so they dont ruin your night vision.

I can detect the night just fine by looking out the window. Can't see anything? It's night. See lots? It's daytime.

Easy. Save the torch for when you need to rally the villagers to storm the castle on the top of the hill.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Wall Mart sells things like that  in the sporting goods.

They cost $2.00.    Replacement batteries are $4.00.

Go Figure?

I've developed a fondness for the LED lights that clip on to your hat visor.   The latest addition to the collection was one the wife gave me for Christmas.

Nice features on this particular beauty are:
1) it tilts so it is easier to focus where you need to see without contorting your neck
2) the actual lamp/led portion is modular so I can use green l.e.d.s  when I'm hunting and switch to the whites when I'm packing things or working in camp.

The best one that I have come across is the LedLenser H7, you can dim the light and focus it and the beam is good for around 150yds or you can make it in to a full flood, it runs on 3 triple As (AAA)s and the power lasts for about 40-50 hours
