Go Up Go Down

I am a newbie to the hobby and use an ACE250 .I recently came upon an opportunity to buy a Compass Goldstar 1000 for  $150.00
My question is would this be comparable to the 250 in my detecting or an up grade . I do understand its older but I have been told it was the one in its day

Go Up Go Down

I hunted with a Garrett Grand Master Hunter, the last one to have a needle and scale instead of an LCD, until fairly recently.  I had used that old machine for so long that I knew what it was telling me.  I also dug darned near every target that went "Beep".  I finally stepped into the 21st Century and bought an Ace 250.  I have to say that I wasn't all that impressed.  Sure, I could notch discriminate things out...if I accepted that I was going to miss some gold rings and other desirable targets.  I still dug darned near every target.  What I'm trying to say is that while the Compass is a great old machine you aren't gaining anything over the detector you have now.  You might be better served to save your money toward one of the latest generation detectors.

Just my 2 cents,
Storm
