Sweep speed affects depth and response on many machines.

Can a calculation/test of optimum sweep speed in air for best depth be carried over into real sweep speed in the ground?

Also maybe you could improve your performance as a detectorist by experimenting with your sweep speed...

keep the coil a constant distance from the ground at all times unlevel sweeping ie going higher at the end of the swing can cause false signals. Speed is something that requires a lot of practice and patience. going too fast you could miss targets going too slow takes a little longer but probably more profitable in the long run.  Tie your shoelaces together and you will get good results take large steps and lose targets
