hi all,what is the point of a pin point probe?you buy a big md to find something and then you buy a little md to find it again.am i missing something.

nope that pretty much sums it up. I like mine as it makes finding dirt colored coins faster but still managed to recover coins before I got the pinpointer.

As I have said many times before I have no use for a PP. Learn your detector learn to pin point with it adding more equipment weighs you down.
Once more there are no short cuts learn your detector and what it is telling you.

I find it depends on the detector and the loop. Some configurations just make it harder to pinpoint, so the pin pointer comes handy.

We have the Garrett pro pointer and cannot imagine md without it. Don't get me wrong it will spoil you.

I use my pin pointer to help keep track of the targets in the loose sand I dig in.

The word I would use is TIME. Poor eyesight is my excuse, but I spend a lot less time rooting around in the soil because of an inability to distinguish the target from the soil. It doesn't help that I usually hunt about dark thirty. Brian, you have demonstrated that you are an avid hunter. If you don't see the need for a pinpointer, forgetaboutit!
