no problem brain.another plus about headphones is when you wearing them and folks start bugging you you can just point to the phones and shake your head like ya can't hear them.............trust me you'll use that one eventually

I always change all my batteries at the same time.    When it comes to headphones, they definitely help you pick up signals you might miss otherwise.   But you should try several different styles of headphones.  My wife can't stand the big, clunky headphones that are usually associated with metal detectors, so she uses the headsets that came with her portable DVD player, or the earbuds that came with her mp3 player.   The need to hear what is going on around you is also an important consideration when choosing headphones or even to wear them at all.   If you are hunting near other detectorists, you'll probably want them (and want them to use headphones).   If you're in an area where you have reason to worry about someone sneaking up on you or you have to worry about snakes....then you don't want to blockout or mask ALL external sounds.   (although I never have figured out the snake part since a) rattlers don't always rattle and b) copperheads and watermoccassins don't rattle and they'll kill you just as dead as a rattler will).   As a general rule, I wear headphones all the time, but I have been wearing the lighter, smaller headsets more often lately.
