EUGINE!   I think the primary on that unit is center tapped.  Maybe they (CIRKITS) substituted the 87bx135 with with it?

That means the second half of the Primary coil is being shorted out by the circuit board and it still works.

As per the schematic, the coil is not center tapped.   This is a  most uncrittical circuit.

It's just a voltage pump.

I really think any of the YOKO yellow IF coils would do the job as long a you keep the Driver Transistor within it's Ic limits.

100ma!

No Big Deal.

ToKo must be owned by the NSA, CIA or some Cartel.

There is like (0) information on this coil.

I would just wind my own on a old TOKO form.

Worst thing your going to do is toast the driver transistor.

Some one should spit this thread off.   I feel like a thread Robber!

I think that with all the trouble finding the TOKO transformer , it is better to do without it and substitute it with a second 9V battery .    Cornelius

If you want to build the Sandbanks PI detector and you cannot get the transformer  87BX135  do the following  : Use the PCB as given in the schematics . But .....leave out C4 , R8 , C5 ,  IC3 ( MC14011CP ) , R9 , R10 , Tr3 ( BC184 ) , The Transformer , D1  .   Hook up a second 12/9 V battery with the   +  between  IC8  and C6  .  The - will go to ground ( OV ) at the power switch  . Now your detector works fine as if nothing happened  . Be sure to incorporate the changes suggested in part 2 of the literature on the detector  .   Have fun with this pretty good detector .   Cornelius
