i have found this technique for deep detection; it used in Geophysical Measurements, and i think it can be helpful for metal detection.

Interesting Stuff for sure.

Best I can figure out this far it looks like a  VLF metal detector with the Transmit and Receive coils seperated over quite a distance.

Later they talk of taking samples after the transmit is turned off in this one somewhat like a PI detector?
