just thought id get a good thread started because this is bound to get user opinions of all the brands. price range not important and not a factor in this discussion.
so for a land machine, what are the favorites and why. well, both experienced and non experienced users are here on this site and both would probably like to hear why a particular detector is a favorite. the beginners could probably get some good information as well and the esperienced hunters who are thinking about an additional machine in the collection might also benefit. please include ground canceling features, depth, etc. i'd like to hear what people think.

Well I'm a newbie to the hobby but have been thru a few machines. Currently have a Minelab Xterra 705 which is a fantastic mid level machine that is very versatile and loaded with features for the price. It has auto noise cancel, auto ground balance, backlight, multi tone, and threshhold just to name a few features of more expensive machines. Also have a Whites M6 that is a great turn-on-and-go machine.

i myself have a white's dfx, minelab xs sovereign, white's eagle. i use the dfx for land for its solid groun cancel and depth, i use the eagle on land-excellent ground balance and depth and excellent beach machine. and my go to machine for the saltwater beaches is the old minelab xs sovereign. i have used about 10 different machines on the beach throughout the years and the minelab outperforms them for depth on saltwater beaches hands down.

I'd have to say minelab Explorer 2 I don't get near as many false readings.
