Garret and whites

Howdy folks,

I am now ready to replace my stolen metal detector, but thought i would ask ya all for some feed back. Am leaning towards the fisher 1270 or 75, but also a garret model. I have had a whites 6000DI, found a lot of good stuff but whites are just to darn complicated and hard to calibrate. My old garret was very easy to use but not a lot of depth on small coins or jewerly, had a compass that was just great. I do like the Garrets, but for price and depth I hear the fisher brand is also a very good machine. I am mostly a coin and jewerly hunter, old out of the way sites, low trash areas. I like deep targets. So who has what to say??

Eugene,

Thanks for the input, I do hear a lot about the tesero brand. What do you like about it. Have never been able to talk with some one who owns one.  Am willing to spend close to a grand for a machine.

spokane,
Heathen,
I take it you do use a minelab?, I know of this brand, but have not heard any stats on it. Am willing to spend a grand on a machine, I do not think top price for a machine makes it any better than another one, although for depth it seems ya need to spend 7-9 hundred with a top of the line headphones, i am a firm believer in good headphones for deep targets. What do you like about the minelab brand??

lem - I too have been reading about detectors.  I haven't been hunting for about 10 yrs and just getting back into it again.   Before that I hunted for 15 yrs.  During that time it was mostly White's machines (3 different ones).   I still have a Spectrum XLT but want to get a backup one.   I think I have decided on the Fishers F75.  There are a lot of good article on-line and reviews.   Perhaps others who own one can chime in with their comments.   Important part is that you get one!

Lots of good detectors out there

Ken,

yeppers, their are certanily lots of good machines to pick from. I am convinced that the fisher F75 or the F70 is the one for me. I started hunting in 1973, home made BFO machine from the heath kit magazine, went to whites, then compas, than garret, all good machines. I hear a lot of good resultes with the fisher brand, I think I would like to have both a fisher and a garret in my arsenal.

I gotta tell you, that you cant go wrong with any of the above mentioned. But for me my Whites 6000/DI S3, Has plenty of depth power, and is built like a rock. Once you and the machine "Bond" the 6000 starts to talk to you. I have learned to trust its dig/no dig readings, And it has never steered me wrong...... I hope......Dam now I gotta go dig those holes to see what was really in them    Detecting

Hello

The Safari will locate and ID coins correctly  at amazing depths.

BBS and FBS machines are known for finding coins that other detector missed. Are they more powerful? I don't think so !

But when you hit a deep (or not) coin with an FBS detector ans it's 28 frequencies, it will have the right frequency at the right time and place.

Just easy as that. Not to mentions their superb behaviour in the presence of wet sand. I run both a Quattro and a Sovereign, believe me, I do not complain about that !

HH
