So, I have been getting into reloading metallic cartridges. The price of metals and everything involved in making ammunition has been going up more and more recently, and right now some places are expecting another HUGE price rise in ammunition... I know, I know get on with the point already. Well, what do you do with all of the shell casing you find? let me put it like this: Don't throw away money, people are willing to buy this from you, if you know what you are selling. So we all know .22's aren't reloadable right? Well recyclers will take that... for $1.60/lb.

I'm going to think that would also include shotgun shells, the primer bottom part ?       " high brass, low brass"    I think that is made of brass  There is a trap club right up the road a ways.I know some of the members throw hundreds of their spent cartridges in the trash.
If these have a scrap value then it would be worth me looking into.  Wink

Good thing is... even if you dont have the caliber you are picking up, you can usually find someone to trade with locally or on the web for what you do need.

I personally would not reload brass that I found in the "wild" since I don't know its history. I reload no more than 3 times and discard the brass or recycle it. I keep careful records on the brass and keep it separate at the range or when outdoors shooting.

There's absolutely no future in a split brass casing. It jams up your weapon making it useless. Just club that mugger with it. That'll work.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I tend to keep ahold of my dug casing for recycle value.  Never know when you could use a few quick bucks.

Yep!   Three time is my limit if I'm going to load it unless I start seeing Neck Splits before hand.

You can reload brass until it is nolonger good. Your loading style, weapon, brand of brass and choice of primer all dictate how many times you can reload it until it fails. All it takes is proper inspection of your cases during the case prep phase.
