If I get broken signals- most of the time I don't dig it.

i've kinda gone full circle in my thought process for "should i dig it?"

went thru long period of blowing off signals thought to be junk.on days when signals are few,i'd be all over any noise.this taught me that some of the old coppers that are encased in 1/8" of green crap, can now be excavated instead of walked past.old tokens, old spanish silver, old dog tags, some hot wheels cars, zippo lighters, windmaster lighters,jewelry~ect..{items that give uncertain signals} hold a better value than 90% of the coins you find.if i get a whisper of the sound i like,i dig.

when in doubt, dig it out Smiley

please let me know where you've detected goldfinger so i can put them on my list! Grin

This is true.  I found out early on that it paid to dig the signals you weren't sure of.    Many interersting and worthwhile finds that way.

Howdy BlackX,

At the risk of sounding stupid Embarrassed I find it very hard to believe that you eyeballed those two coins on the surface and didn't hear them on your detector! Surface coins can be found with the cheapest and junkiest machines. Lips Sealed Have you got your settings correct for that type of soil? Are you making sure that you are ground balanced before you start your hunt? Where is the sens knob set at? What I always do, is drop a dime on the ground, balance my machine a few inches away from it, then pass my coil, which I've raised about two inches off the ground, then retuned, over the dime. There is no way I won't hear that coin, unless, maybe if my sensitivity knob is turned too low, or my discriminator knob is set up to max, maybe! Being a long time Tesoro lover, I believe your machine found those two deep wheaties easily, so I'd be making sure of my initial set-up if I were you, to hear those surface targets too... Wink

Keep sweepin'

LarryB
