Go Up Go Down

Once again 2 months ago ,copied pics but thought I would share this . I went up to the old oak tree house to do some detecting. this is an old party spot above Beaumont in fact I was there when I was 18, way too much junk around the house so  I saw the water collection basin north of the house so I detected up to it finding only junk. but coming back I noticed a dead line of grass snaking back towards a ravine . it looked fairly new so I dug down and found a brand new 3/4 black irrigation hose. I followed it to the bottom of the ravine and guess what, the startings of a pot farm . good thing I was armed . anyway I got out of there. I guess I won't go back till after harvest whenever that is to try detecting again. look closely at the pic of the field and you can see the dirt line. Thanks for looking

Good detective skills - they should have reseeded after putting in the line, huh? Sue

Careful there Moondog. Snakes....not too bad of a deal, but the weed farmers.... lookout. They have different dispositions from the real snakes.  Good thing you were packing. Of course like Sue noticed..... maybe they aren't too smart in the camouflage department!!

This has been my stomping grounds for 40yrs and I will not cower away because of some pot heads. Now booby traps are a different story.my neighbor and I plan on riding our mountain bikes up there and checking it out. I"ll post some new pics , hopefully the lower setting on my camera will allow me to upload

You could help them along a little by using that new "fertilizer" called Roundup.

Did you notify the local authorities?

I don't know what good it would do. we have 3 pot dis penseries in town plus word is when cops catch you with pot they just throw it in the wind, they are more interested in meth.heck who knows maybe Nov13 it will be CA,s next big cash crop.I accidentally chopped the irrig. line with my detector pick about 8 times so that should slow them down.I hate filing a police report because I don't know who's growing it,you can't trust the local cops to keep there mouth shut and I don't need trouble coming my way.

I have a 6" coil for my scorp that I have never tried . well I plan on putting it on and trying it at the tree house. from the growth of the oak tree that house has been there for a long time.Maybee if I rake up the surface trash I won't have so many bad hits. as far as the farmers go I'm not scared, I am more worried about a mountain lion getting the drop on me or me suprising one of the many black bears that cruise the old orchards up there.

The rake for surface trash sounds like a good idea Smiley  Id say if you dont go out of the to get noticed by the farmers, there probly wont be any problems with them , they will probly want to keep a low profile.
Good luck with the old house, It may have a few items of interest  Cool

Thanks, I will post any finds If I do good.
My neighbor and I rode our mountain bikes up there to see if it was safe to detect around the area today and I don't think so. there's a fresh coat of gangster paint on the house and a lot of trail activity around the irrigation hook up probably trying to figure out why water is not flowing.Guess I'll wait till winter to go back up there.I enclosed some new pictures ,one is the valley where the irrigation line is going.this is my last update as it does not have much to do with detecting. Thanks For Looking
