Thanks gold digger. I cannot tell you how much fun i had actually watching videos on new metal detectors and seeing all the features. it really got me excited to go out there. i think with all the rain we have i am going to go out tomorrow to an early encampment i know of with my Ace and get my first day of the year in. Hopefully the ground defrosted enough.  Rider  I already called an hour ago and got permission. Now i cannot wait until the sun comes up! or my new detector next week. What sold me on the mxt pro is the visual screen telling me ring or coin or nail ect..., plus a few features on the coil and new frequency it uses! frequency was the big seller though. hopefully i will post some treasures tomorrow.  Detecting

RJ
I still use an old Garrett BFO for relic hunting and prefer it over any of my newer machines. But most of my relic hunting is at virgin locations that bottle caps and pull tabs are not a problem. It has been pointed out to me and GD can probably back it up that the reason I like the BFO is because it has an 18 in coil which gives me a lot of depth. Who knows but I have been using a BFO for 40 years and it works for me.

time for you to change and not worry about spending a little money on a hobby you seem to enjoy. metal detectors have come a huge way in last 5 years with frequencys for depth findings.

The MXT is about as good as it gets. As far as the visual display, don't you ever believe what it tells you. Use it for amusement only. Small gold rings will almost always show up as a pull tab. Don't believe me? Leave them behind for the next guy. He'll love you for that.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hi, one of the reasons i went with mxt PRO is that the gold setting discriminates out other metals and only does gold searches.  Detecting Not Relics or coin jewelry. Im not a gold prospector anyway, just relics, but i am not using the visual as 100% as word of god... lol but definitely 90% accuracy as from all the example is saw on U- tube videos of other prospectors showing the display and then digging exactly what is says.  Club  So the frequency setting used is different from other metal detectors out there, that was a big deal with me too for deeper penetrating and more accuracy on what i find.  Rider thanks for your input brother, good points you mention in your emails.  Clapp

I heard the Fisher F-75 is a good button, relic machine.  Seen them for under $1000.

yeah i looked at fischers and played some you-tube evaluations. There higher frequency doesn't bounce back properly on gold. It will work, but a dog with fleas, is still a dog.
