I have a 200 to 500 $ budget for a new metal detector. I want something that will go 8 to 12 inches deep. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of Fine Detectors in that price range.

Funny, That is the same detector I have now. I think I will check into the fisher 5. I had a Garret ace 350 a while ago but I was having a hard time pinpointing my targets, I spent to long digging.
Thanks

If you want to do Nugget hunting , get something that runs at least 15Khz.

I have Older detectors and a few Home Brews.

If you're not married to a digital display, take a long hard look at Tesoro's.  They're good coin machines and will get you in the range for nugget hunting also.
