I was there a couple of months ago but I figure I'd share the detecting trip pics anyway. The pics are downsized by copying them of the computer screen because they have too many megapixals. After a long bumpy ride on the gold crown rd out of 29 palms we got to the Virgina dale mine. the one pic shows the massive quartz vein they were working. I have never seen anything like it. the round steel tanks are cyanide leach tanks. we were kind of leery of stirring up any dust digging.the third pic is some nice quartz float coming down the hillside. when the weather cools off I plan on going back to the float with a pick & shovel and working the hole deeper. the only thing we found was a good time. next time i also plan on working some ridge tops that looked promising. Thank you for looking.

Well I like to think I have the best of both worlds with a scorp and a GMT. The scorp at 15kz has excellant depth while the GMT at 48kz will see the tinyest of gold. The GMT also has the follow the paystreak feature that I love because the majority of gold I get is with my drywasher and it puts me in some excellant spots. as far as my scorp goes I have dug some targets like 22 bullets & boot tacks at 10"-12" out in quartzsite out in the middle of nowhere.I just can't see spending $4500 for a mine lab and have to dig 2-3ft holes. There is a substatute teacher that lives in 29 palms that goes out and detects that area with a cheep detector and found 18.000 in one area. I know the person that bought the 2 largest nuggets off of him.I just need to spend more time out there and learn the area, then maybe I'll start doing good.If I don't find any gold out detecting at least I find a good time.
