Go Up Go Down

I spent 3+ hours walking the cornfield I wrote about a week or so ago.  I didn't find the wallet, but I continued my learning on my Tesoro Cortes.

I found out that my Cortes will pick up a 2" diameter x 1/8" thick disc or medallion of rusty, crumbling iron at 8" deep.  I also found out that it will pick up a rusty metal tube 10+ inches long x 1" diameter at (honestly measured) 14" deep.  Found out it picks up a 1"x2" piece of aluminum can at 8" deep, and a piece of what seemed to be old gum wrapper at 6" deep.  So, with the depth and with the sensitivity to the foil coated paper gum wrapper, there may be some hope for finding the foil faced lottery tickets in the lost wallet yet!

I walked a bit less than 1/4 of the cornfield and found what looked to be a barrel from an old BB gun, the metal disc, a piece of really neat, heavy barbed wire, a couple of plowed under cans, piece of what look to be vanes from an old TV antenna, and lots of old rusty bolts, nails, etc.

All in all, a good day with fresh air, sunshine and enough exercise (the field is on the side of a hill) to make my old bones ache tonight.  Not sure I want to know how they will feel tomorrow!

Neat hobby I have picked up, I think.

I'm impressed - you're learning your detector, getting fresh air and gathering trash out of that guys field. It is a neat hobby.  Smiley Never know what you'll find, but, find, you will.

All metal check all targets and time!   You will win.

Something in there is detectable.   Credit cards have a Ferrite based strip.

The lotto tickets are aluminum gum wrapper type.

Even Ink on dollar bills is made from metal.
