No don't think they have maxed out their electronics expertise in fact long way from it.
Not going to see much this year but in 2012 think both Garrett and Fisher will market a new line of beginner detectors along the lines of Tesoro 2 or 3 knob no  screen easy to use machines.
Over the next 2 years we will also see the top 4 manufactures include build in pin pointers and there will be much debate here and other boards if its worth the add 40-100 dollar price.
One of the top 4 will come out with a new water machine that will change water hunting forever.

Remember these are just my 2 cents worth don't going buying stock in the top 4 on the ramblings of a crazy old hermit.

I agree with Seldom. Right now detector circuits are mostly focused on a certain task. As microprocessors become more powerful and cheaper, they will be integrated. More and more side functions will be added like more accurate descrimination and identification, error checking, increased signal sensitivity, etc...

If enough people will buy it someone will figure out how to build it.

I'd be tickled Pink if someone would produce a Analog detector in the lines of the old Garrett Ground Hog with Updated Quiet Semiconductors, Better Caps and Be Running at say 17 to 25 KHz.

Coil options of Concentric, DD, and Co-Planer.

NO STINKING COMPUTER.

ALL MANUAL CONTROLS.

NO MULTI TONES.

Homefire. You sure got a point on that one!!! Sometimes seems like they bring out a new model just to make the holiday sales go up.

Knowing these companies like i do, even if they do have plans they will never tell us or anyone out side the company
even the dealers won't tell ya, Whites bought the MXT PRO, and the TDI PRO, Garrett have released the AT PRO
Fisher have released the F75 LTD, So it's only Minelab who are draging their feet, but i have heard there is another machine
coming out soon but they would'nt say who.
