I was thinking about detecting today while working. My grandpa used to read true treasure, lost treasure and such,he would read me the stories and tell me about the things people found, what got you started?

My folks have to take the blame, mostly my mom. I grew up rockhounding and exploring old mines. It's only gotten worse as time goes on. It's an addiction   Tongue  Grin

I started doing lots of reading on it after watching Raiders of the Lost Ark.  I read the Treasure Hunters Manual #7 by Von Mueller and The Treasure Hunter by Howard Jennings Then I went to the mountains with the old man and explored a old mine and found that file on The Lost mine of Pitt Lake and that was it I was hooked.

Interest for electronics;

Saw metal detectors in a Tandy/Radio Shack catalog.

Bought the 4003.

Found immediately 30/40 years old coins in the backyard, and have been hooked ever since. Kiss

My wife lost her wedding band helping my mother dig potatoes. So I went Radio Shack and got my first detector $20 I think? Found her ring been hooked for 23 years. And she likes to help when I'm detecting.
