hehehe! a little overload? this is a great thread, though it may seem like too much all at once. I own the ace 250 and it suits me, but the tesoro is on my wish list and it will serve you well in your location. compare prices. i cannot speak to the price.

Go Up Go Down

Hi, I had the same decision to make recently also, choosing a metal detector that is, I went for one of the older Fisher CZ models, the CZ7a, which is a digital machine, it seems fairly straight forward to use and is well recommended, but also I read nothing but praise for the analogue CZ machines, the CZ5, CZ6 or CZ6a, although they will not cost as much as the latest and greatest machines - they can be purchased for a reasonable price, they can be bought for about £150 to £250 depending on the condition or if you just get one for a bargain price, although they are quite an old machine now.

For the money I have read that they are a good buy, plenty of information to read about them on the internet too, and a dedicated section for the CZ machines on this forum.
The main reason I went for a Fisher was because I wanted it to use on the beach and also the price was very good for the performance this machine has, the Fisher CZ machines are supposed to be great on the beach, wet sand or land, these are dual frequency machines, running at 5kHz and 15kHz dual frequency.

I have yet to use mine, just waiting on my headphones, and then I'm ready to go.

Go Up Go Down

Well we have a massive beach here, especially when the tide is out, not much beach left when the tide is in though!, and its mainly all sand, some dry at the top and then wet and some black sand about half way down onwards to the sea.

Still waiting for my headphones to arrive, only ordered them on Thursday, I haven't actually been metal detecting yet. I don't want to go until I get my headphones, just to keep the beeps to myself, lol, being a newbie and all that. I have it all to learn.

As for what people find up here, well from what people have been saying on the forums, not a lot of decent stuff is being dug up, just rubbish, nails, ringpulls, 2pence pieces, lol, but maybe when the holidays start their will be more stuff lost on the beach, modern coins(Pound) and maybe some jewellery, nothing old though I doubt, but you never know.

Would really like to eventually try detecting inland, a few valuable Treasures have been found recently in the last few years in the North West, that would be nice to find some real Treasure(dreaming!)
