Shocked Welcome Detecting Hello Has anyone out there encountered very nasty hot rocks that are extremely difficult to tune out when using your Whites TDI or any other PI machine that has a ground cicuit built into it. Devil Tongue
thank you very much
Rick

Hot rocks are those which your detector senses as being metal. They are unavoidable and normally cannot be tuned out.

this is a pulse induction metal detector and it can tune out hot rocks and black sands, I was wondering if anyone else out there with a Whites TDI is having any problems with hot rocks using there PI unit...What did you just start detecting? PI detectors like the Whites TDI are made for hot ground where a VLF detector is unusable..

Actually, you might not be using the term hot rocks correctly. If you actually have metal inside of them like an ore, they're not hot rocks. You need to see inside of them to be certain. Crushing them is the only way to be sure. You might actually have something very valuable there.

A good friend of mine was concerned that he was finding hot rocks which, when unearthed, turned out to be ordinary rock that had no signal at all on the surface. This went on for months before we determined that he was actually sensing his own steel toed boots. When he kneeled to dig, the boots were too far away to detect.

Back off, dude. I have been detecting more than 40 years now and am an electronics engineer (now retired) with multiple detector circuit designs. I know what your machine is.

I have been an Electronics Tech as long as you have been an Engineer, you can design circuits but I doubt if you can repair anything like most engineers!!!!

Mate, I started as a technician and began to design early on as a ham radio operator.

Yes, I am a Republican but that has nothing to do with giving you good answers to your questions. Just because you don't LIKE an answer doesn't mean it's a wrong answer. Do you have any idea how a detector works or are you just guessing here?

He's just upset because he doesn't understand what is being discussed. He'll grow out of this soon enough. All teenagers do.
