I was thinking of getting out this winter and getting some more detecting in but I'm new to detecting and I'm not sure what to expect as far as any tech issues with my detector / I/E Could the snow and cold damage my detector or coil? I have a Whites Prism IV , the coil is water proof, thanks for the help everyone,

~Patrick~

Kind of hard to dig in frozen ground. I'd say condensation inside the coil might be a problem in winter if you aren't careful. My manual has temperature ranges to stay within - probably more for the controls than the coil.

you'll  probably be ok except for the frozen ground, remember if you get a hit and can't dig it,mark the spot discreetly and go back when it thaws out.

good luck

I'll be doing winter hunting for the first time this year.

I have a ML Sovereign with a hip mount bag. I figure I'll wear the bag in front of me inside my coat to keep the box warm. And I'll have my jack hammer to open the ground.
