Hi GD, thanks for your excellent input. I am using a Hantek DSO202B  20MHZ 1 GSa/s digital oscilloscope with fast eaveform capture, FFT, and thumb drive storage. My computer and my electronics shack are in different places and can' t be changed. I can stretch the area beneath the coil collapse area to full screen, measure down to picoseconds. However, like I mentioned, I am not using the standard resistor damped coil method of transmitting the the signal, so there is no counter emf coil colapse signal to measure. Parts of my design will have to be quiet for now, but I will reveal later. I will still need a delay signal though. My plan was to see what most people were using as a general starting point, then super correlate to what I am doing. My earlier resistor damped pi detector did not require a delay signal. It eliminated the drive signal, and transformed the remaining signal into a rectangular pulse. It then compared that pulse width to a standard value and determined whether it was ferrous or iron. All in hardware.

There was a instance this last week some yabboe flew his drone over a  forest fire to get photo's for a contest by some TV station.  They had to ground Air Support that caused the Fire Crews to pull off the line.  Looks like the guy could be doing some jail time last talk was.  That kind of stuff is how the Government gets teeth to get ugly.

Right here in Arizona.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

The AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) rules say you can't fly withing 4 miles of an airport or anywhere withing 4 miles of an active airplane action like an air show. Notice that they have RC flying at a lot of air shows but they always ground the big guys first.

I once flew RC off the USS Ranger during a flight deck barbecue. Permission from the skipper, of course. There was a local club on the ship and we used to fly when in port. We had a blast flying over the Indian Ocean. Ah, memories.

Similar story.. Flew my Carl Goldberg Falcon 56 through the CO's plate glass office window over in Korea!!!.   He actually thought it was funny. Whew..

Homie. Give us an update on that scope.

Stuff being shipped out of China finds it's way to the U.S.A via Carter Contract then Customs  to a warehouse then to USPS.  I have a tracking number that has not entered the system at this time.  If it shows up in two or three weeks I'll be skippy.

This is very helpful. Been having similar ideas.   What if we combined your basket weave coils with this display. very handy out in the filed.
I was think adding one of theses to the XR 71.

LOL That's  what Arduino is all about !  Hundreds of thousands of folks playing with them making their findings public and usable.

My bet is you can't do a gOOgle on any subject with the term Arduino in front of it and not come up with something related using a Arduino and that subject.  LOL
