Happy New Year MZ6466!!   Smiley

C7  3.3 nF (nanoFarad) or .0033 uF (microFarad)
C5, C12 270 nF or .270 uF
C15 470 pF (picoFarad)
C23 2.2 uF

If it was me building this thing (and I trusted the schematic enough to build it in the first place!) I would use a mica capacitor for C6 and a polystyrene for C7.

I would appreciate it if you could post a link to where you originally found the schematic. I would like to read a circuit description if there is any. The presentation of this (and many other schematics around) is a little confusing. What is the frequency of operation? Do you have coil winding data?

MZ6466

Yeah it's 2.2mf not critical as to type like C6/C7 might be. Tantalum should work. The wire appears to be 28 gauge for the coil.

I spent a while looking for more info about this circuit but could find none. However, other people have built other Varna circuits and appeared to have success with them.

If you notice on the schematic it says for the coil "100w 0.31" that was not real clear to me at first until you said "100 turns" for the coil. We know that the frequency is 11 Khz, so from the L2 C6/C7 "tank circuit" the inductance of the coil is going to be 5.6 mH (I used an online calculator).  You can use this to help with coil construction. In silly america, we still like to use

AWG numbering
system.

So I am not familiar with European standards. I used an

to come up with the corresponding AWG gauge number (as I'm too busy to pull out a paper and pencil at the moment). This calculator gives me 29 awg, which is more believable than the 28 - but I speculate that the other calculator was giving me the gauge of  AWG wire which would be commonly available. "0.30 mm" is not much from "0.31mm" and should work (though the frequency may be slightly different). If you have an LCR meter and a frequency meter, you should be able to come up with the correct coil.

From the lower left hand corner, there appears to be the dimensions of the layout for what is commonly known as a "two box" detector. All two box detectors should be able to detect a large object at a couple of feet (.3 meters?). It depends entirely on the size of object(s) you are looking for. The more I look at the schematic, the more interesting I find it. However, it could have been laid out much better. Did somebody email you the schematic? Where did you find it?
