very interesting plate.........need to keep a couple of things in mind when researching it:
1)  the swastika was a popular symbol well before the Nazis came into existence, so it is possible that it predates the nazi era
on the other hand
2)  the nazis, as with most totalitarian regimes, pretty much made a cult out of motherhood, so it could be part of a set extolling the virtues of the ideal german mothers.

I'm leaning toward the latter choice while researching, but don't rule out the first until you get a definitive answer one way or the other.    Maybe we can narrow down the search parameters based on the plate shape and dimensions?   Just how big is this piece?

(also, do you know if any of your male relatives fought in the European theater during World War II or were stationed in Germany shortly after the war? ... if so, they could have sent or brought it home as a souvenir for your Grandmother)

Yes, it's a commerative plate from WW2, having to do with mothers. Interesting....the fact that it's been in your grandmothers closet for a long time means it's not a knock-off. The Russians and Chinese made millions of KO medals, plates, you name it...
