Anybody finding any gold rings, bracelets, etc. with the Etrac.  This is a great deep coin and trashy ground machine, but I have not found any gold yet.  I hunt mostly parks and sports fields and with my DFX find some gold once in a while.  Not so with my Etrac.  Any help would be appreciated.    Idiot

I don't know how you have set up your detector in regard to discrimination settings, if you discriminate out pull tabs, aluminum bottle caps and foil etc. you'll be missing gold items.
I have the Minelab SE Pro and it is very sensitive to gold items even though I haven't found any gold with yet, probably because I discriminate out pull tabs etc. Some places I hunt are real trashy.

There's another element to the gold finding saga. People don't lose gold items with the same regularity as they do coins. You might find 1,000 coins between each gold item and that wouldn't surprise me at all. At the same time, you'll probably dig 10,000 pull tabs, bobby pins, bottle caps, nails and screw caps. That's a lot of bending and standing.

I dig trash and treasure at the ratio of 10:1 quite regularly.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Very true SC,I have found some gold and it all registers in with pull tabs,I just run the coins mode.
I dig a ton of pulltabs looking for gold. Most i have found register a 12 on the ferrous side, and can be anywhere on the conductive side.
Small earrings would be around 12-02 or close,Small rings 12-08,12-12,Bands around12-17
class rings size 12-20,12-27 depending on size and mass it can vary a lot.
This is according to size and mass of the ring or item.
So,that leaves us to dig a lot of pulltabs, can pieces etc.
I have actually went to some soccer fields and spent days there digging for gold
and filled my finds pouch up with all kinds of junk.
WHY?
Because, later i can go and know i have a big part of the junk cleaned out.
