Was searching the beach, and got a nice solid tone. Dug up a irish halfpenny that was on one of the boats that sank down there. Cant see the date, but the NEWEST the coin is, is 1775 as thats when the ship went down. It has a picture of a face on the front facing right, and a lady on a chair on the back holding a rod or something of some sort. I think its a charles III? I think is what is on the coin. Its pretty worn, but its been in the ocean for 230+ years, so im happy you can still see some detail. Found in the wet sand with a ACE 250. 5" deep. I took it to a coin shop and he cleaned it up for me, and said I could probably get $100 for it since its in good condition, but im not selling it. Smiley Keeping my 1st old coin find. I'll post pictures asap!!!

No pics yet, no digi-camera. Going to barrow my girlfriends so I can snap a few. When I took the coin in the guy said to me he never found a coin on that beach from that ship and he put months of time in on the same beach I was at. Talked to another lady and she said she never found a coin on that beach and she been hunting it for 20 years. I guess you got to be in the right place at the right time. I was literally hunting for 2 minutes before I found it. We were fishing, and took the MD with just incase I wanted to hunt. I grabbed it and found the coin within 20 feet of out fishing spot. Almost like I walked right to it.

Right. This one is LIKE the one with the harp, but instead of the harp it has the lady holding something, and looks like a shield of some sort on the lower right. You cant see it on my coin, as its pretty worn.

If you don't have a digital camera, try scanning the coin as if it were a photo. Usually, that works just fine for coins. Many of us are drooling over the chance to see it.
