VERY Interesting but I wonder if you know cleaning copper coins with electrolysis devalues the coin a wash in soapy water is about all you really should do.  I had some internment camp coins and I foolishly cleaned them much to my regret untouched they would of been worth $70 each... messed about with $10.  We all learn by our mistakes.  Silvers easy to clean copper leave it alone.

Try to soak it in olove oil then wash it with ivory dish liquid, that works good also. I have some large cents i found and they came out good with the oil.......DW

Nice 5 Kopeck specimen.  Indeed, they're big Smiley

I have 4 of these in my numismatic collection.  They retail for about $25-$35, sometimes higher depending on grade.

BTW, olive oil is a good way to loosen dirt, cake, and grime.  Also works is soaking with 100% pure acetone in a glass dish, with no exposure to sunlight, and alternating with rinses in distilled water.  Anything else, or harsher handling, most probably will reduce/damage numismatic value.
