Go Up Go Down

The Cibola has 3 selectable frequencies.
Why is the range so small or limited?
Would it be feasible or possible to extend the freq up or down to a greater degree?
I looked hard and didn't find anything on the subject in here (or anywhere).
I know there's some good techies here that can give me a meaty response.

There working within the Coils limits.

To go much further you would need  a different coil.

I noted little to no difference when selecting different freqs on the Cibola.
One would think that increasing the spread could be done to some extent?
Would a greater freq range = diminished performance?
Is there a range of limitations on circuits designed for specific frequencies?
Is it just plain impractical to attempt more variation in freq for my rig?

The frequency differences are, as Homefire says, limited by the coil design. The differences in what you see as a user depend on the target. Extremely hard to find targets like very small gold rings, small gold earrings, gold chains and silver of similar description can be found much easier on different frequencies. If you are using your machine as a variable frequency device alone, you are doing it wrong.

Select the frequency you like best for overall performance. If you get a faint or warbling target sound, change the frequency and try again. Less signal? Try again. Whichever gives you the best response will give you the best chance of target recovery. Those illusive, tiny signals are often those small silver or gold objects I described. Or, sadly, tiny bits of aluminum foil or gum wrappers. They unfortunately look alike to your detector.

Laser Trident I & Trident II Frequency Modification
This mod increases the search frequency from 14KHz to 18KHz
Higher search frequencies can improve sensitivity to smaller targets and improve iron rejection when compared to lower ones.
(Also available for the Cibola and Vaquero - please call)

Pentechnic make a statement that isn't true on their front page. Their mods DO void your warranty. Check with Tesoro if you don't believe it.
