Go Up Go Down

Just received an old Coinmaster 6000/DI Series 2 detector as a gift. It's a fixer upper. Coil wire at coil is chewed up but not broken. I'm working on that. Controls are frozen, will take apart and lubricate. No battery box, so ordered one off EBay cheap, just got it last nite. Discovered my C cells were too old. Will get some at daybreak. Then I will test it. Has two type handles. Also kind of heavy. I undetstand it's a battery hog.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Thanks for the input guys. I will keep you informed as I go. If I don't like it when I  am done, I will donate it to some kid or to the detecting club I belong to as a prize at one of our events.

Look up my Bring out your dead Post.  I donated a few detectors to Games, Contest and other .     I have the Schematic for that one I think.

You  may want to add it to the pile.   Just a thought.

Well, I repaired the coil, bought a battery box online, and cleaned the controls. The volume control, remains frozen. I removed it from the board and have been soaking it in a solution of control cleaner, lighter fluid, and oil for a week. It is a 250 ohm control with long terminals. Does anyone here have one they can sell me?

Carl  I had a 4900D that had all the knobs frozen I called the repair in Chicago and he told me to spray them with contact cleaner and take the knobs off and turn (force) the shafts with a pair of pliers which I did and all knobs came loose one was scratchy but all worked so's I sold it to a friend for 50 bucks and it still works good for him. I was scared to force the knobs as he suggested but it worked, didn't know if u have tried to force them or not or if u didn't wan't too.   shortribs  sw mo

I found another Treasure box of Pot's but alass, it was a Miss.    Sad   Thinking your going to have to buy one.    Can't find the Long 90% pins.  Maybe you can extend wire to the lugs ?
