Broken on which connector? Explain to us what is wrong and you might not need a schematic.

The connector has 5 pins starting from left to right. Wire color green, blue, missing wire, missing wire and yellow. All wires are attached to circuit board, so the missing wire isn't missing just broken from lug. Wires are gray and black.

Are you talking about the coil connector to the PC board? Battery connector? Which connector?

Next question. Do you have a multimeter to measure the coil wire resistances? We next need to determine which wires are which. Since you asked for a schematic, a logical assumption would be that you have one.

I'm sorry if I misled you in thinking that I have schematic. The answer is NO. I will try some tests as you have mentioned. But without schematic it's pure guess work.

My reply was poorly worded. I meant that I presumed you had a multimeter, not a schematic. A schematic may not be required here. After you have the results of your testing, I may have a solution for you.

I should have asked what your level of expertise is regarding electronics. Where do you see yourself in that area?

Not very good! I do have a brother-in-law who was a electronic tech for GE. I may have to rely on him! I did download a resistor color code guide.

OK. I understand. Since your background isn't strong, bear with my questions and I pretty much assure you we will find the fix together. I have a great deal of experience in this area. We'll work it out for you.

Now, can you measure the resistance between the wires themselves? Ordinarily, the wires adjacent to each other are from one of the coils and the pair at the opposite end of the connector. Try to see if they read continuity which is nearly zero ohms. Not zero, but close to zero.

I'll tell you right now that having those wires broken won't be likely to harm your detector any further than just having the wires broken. The coils are part of the tuning network inside of your machine. If they are open or not connected, the rest of the circuitry is just not going to work. Reconnecting them to the right points should repair it. So, let's get busy.

Harbor Freight sells a cheap multimeter for less than $10.00. An investment you won't regret.
