I have been tooling around looking to get the parts for this particular design and the original wire/pipe finder is no longer available. However, for those of you who care, The Sperry PF-2A looks like almost exactly the same machine and can be readily be found on Ebay for cheap as elsewhere ($5-$12). I figured this would be a good way to get into tinkering a little bit. I would like to eventually build a detector, probably of the Tesoro Compadre type. Seems like it would be simple in the circuitry.

Peace

Sean

When asking a question like this one, it's more than a little helpful to either upload or point to the reference project.

Where is the schematic? Where are the plans?

After a bit of scouting around, I found the attached set of plans. Is this what you are trying to build?

No question, just a statement for those of you looking for this part in his original plans. BTW, thanks for posting that. I had copied the link and just forgot to paste it.

Peace

Sean

According to the eBay picture and description, the sensor is on the other side of the machine. Otherwise, it looks very similar.

Did you see the one guy selling them for quantity 10 at $29.95 with $13.00 shipping to the USA? Makes them just under $4.50 each.

Yeah, I was thinking about buying them (just about $50 even after shipping), but I would only keep two for myself. Do you think I could peddle 'em off to folks at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Sean

Why not? The entire free world has been built on capitalism! Go for it.

When I checked the price of shipping 10 to Australia, the UPS rate was $279.00. I nearly fainted and began to look at the one going for about $7.50AU with shipping around $12.00.

Then, smack myself in the forehead time, I already have a terrific homebrew pinpointer and don't really need another.

I think I will just save him as a seller, see how mine turns out and then go from there.

Peace
