Hi Schauer.  Welcome from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!  Welcome

Can you post a picture of the detector shaft?  If we could see what you are using now, we might be able to make more useful suggestions for you.   Detecting

I use scounged parts for repairs all the time.

A cheap Bounty hunter Lower end stem fit both Whites and Garret  Just fine.

You have to Sand down the Clevis some times but works fine and looks good.

Delrin Rod works real good.   You can drill it, Grind it and heat and bend it if needed.

PVC Pipe works in a pinch.   You can heat the end pinch it together and drill for bolt.

Hi Schauer,

It looks like the rods that Homefire talked about are probably your best bet for doing what you want for your detector stem.  All my detectors have been purchased and have the original stems on them.   Way back in the early 1970's I did repair a stem to an old detector with an aluminum shaft.  I had to cut of the stem.  I fixed it by using an aluminum tube, just smaller than the original shaft, and slid it inside the old shaft.  I put a couple of bolts and nuts in it to hold it together and if worked fine for me.
Good luck.  Sorry, no pictures to show you.   Detecting
