Jerry,

It's customary to introduce oneself in the new use area before leaping right into a technical barrage. Welcome aboard from Perth in Western Australia.

I can't recall anyone discussing fiber optics here but there have been discussions on underwater cameras, wireless cameras, cameras lowered into wells and robotic cameras. At the top right of any page here is a search box. Go on. Give it a go. Make sure you select the "Entire Forum" option for the best results.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Your looking for multi Fiber Fiber optics for visuals.

Unless you have a camera at the end multiplexing the signal to a single fiber I don't know how you would do it.

Google Fiber optic cameras!   Google is your friend.
