Go Up Go Down

Hi all, I have always wanted a metal detector and today I picked up a Whites spectrum Xlt at a tag sale for $30 (don't hate me yet...) It is filthy and the battery pack had been left in it long enough for the batterys to corrode and rot off one of the leaf spring tabs from the circut board.  Otherwise the circuit board looks fine, no burnt spots etc.
I have done plenty of soldering in my life though mostly plumbing :  - )
I have a Pencil soldering iron but I am ignorant of heat sinks and the like. Anyone in North Connectiut area be interested in fixing this for me? If I had the correct part I am sure it would be a 2 min fix...
Thanks!

Nice pick up on the detector.  Well worth the price even with the damage!  Good luck with getting it repaired!  And Welcome to the Thunting forum from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!   Detecting

I just got off the phone with Whites, ordered the part that I needed (x2) plus a battery box to replace the rotted one. That brings the investment up to $47 so far. Will follow up with repair results.
