This is incredibly simple - but it works really well!

Hi Christian,
Yes, Built it, only took an hour or two.
It's surprisingly sensitive (I found coins at around 6").
Very "well mannered" too.
It will drift slightly with temperature but easily brought back with the control.
It will discriminate (falling tone on ferrous, rising on non).
Just make sure if you build it that the coils are "out of phase" (counterwound) - this increases the sensitivity a good amount.

Paul is it possible for you to show us a picture of the finished product? I work with a lot of electronic equipment and elect equipment, but not at componet level with the electronic equipment. So my minds eye has no clue what your finsihed detector would look like.
Also new to forum, and just going through and looking at stuff that is of an interest to me,,,and asking questions,,im begining to think this forum is a little more toward the componet level, as a whole that is. But still loads of interesting information.  We do operate on the smoke theroy where I work though. So far its seems to work very well.
