Hi There...We are new here and have read some of the posts and we just know that the tech person we need to meet is here somewhere. We are family who loves to go out with detectors,, but the last coupleof units we bought from ebay were duds, now we dont trust ebay very much,,,but we thought that someone in the midwest could fix one for us ,,, we have a heathkit 1190 cointrack with no audio and will not tune at all, unit has tuning control, variable disc, and volume controls,,we are in Kokomo In. and maybe could mail or deliver to someone close by... thanks in advance    USMRS
ps  ebay is a very cool place,, I just dont want anyone else getting skinned by vendors who misrepresent their merchandise.. sorry my 2cents

I believe that was a home build kit detector.

Depending on the skills of the builder could have bearing on what could be wrong with it.

Edit:

Researching this I found its a duplicate kinda post.

Here is the schematic provided Some one.

If your willing to pay shipping to and from New Mexico I will try to make it work.

$25.00 labour and parts!

That machine is not worth the efforts or cost.

Hello usmrs . Here is a clear schematic for everyone . Sometimes on those heathkit 1190's and 1290's the big rotary selector switch needs spray cleaning with an evaporative electrical contact cleaner , around $7.99 at Radio Shack or Frys electronics .

HH...... Great.....Eugene

Thanks again,, this is the schematic I downloaded once before,,, the assembly manual is what Im after,, the one link was five years old and a deadend before I could get an address,,though Ive heard the 1190 and the 1290 werent worth it,,, I will get them repaired anyway, because the stubborn guy in me says the 1290 can and will locate strategic ores in mine dumps,,tantalite/columbite specifically and has found the largest and deepest gold rings of all the brands I have used to coin hunt...call me old fashioned but I want to have fun with the kids and this 1190 will be the oldest girls outfit her brother has teknetik and little sis has a bfo from the 60s and usually ends up on the swings while we detect the parks,, mom has a coinmaster and I do too,, both the 1190 and the 1290 need attention so were looking forward to the repair of them.... I will pm you if you want toreapir these units,, and I ll pay the shipping too......usmrs     thanks for the feedback

The best place to look for the Cointrac 1190 kit "instruction booklet" is ebay . I did build the Groundtrac GD-1290 Years ago and eventually sold it on ebay with the Heathkit instruction booklet . Here is a link that will tell you who now own's the copyrights and where to find the 1190 manual:
