With the release of the new movie "Copperhead" by Ron Maxwell, the director of "Gettysburg"(1993) and "Gods and Generals" (2003) the terms 'Copperhead' and 'KGC' are terms that will not be unknown to our contemporaries.  "Copperhead" is the story of an upstate New York family which comes under fire for their support of the Constitution and opposition to the war.

Well said Homey like National Treasure and the other so called treasure movies they are just fuel for the conspiracy nuts. There are no facts involved he$$ I bet most have never been in a research library they just believe what ever they read on the net. It really is sad so many good brains  gone to mush because they buy into this crap

The only honest part of National Treasure was their Parka's ( made by Canada Goose ) I bought one, Still I enjoyed the movie, it's a bit like the davinci code but without the viewer having to do the thinking.

There's more than one reason to watch a movie.   And folks nowadays really don't understand just how deeply divided the country was during the Civil  War.   Too many folks think everyone north of the Mason-Dixon line supported Lincoln and the Union while everyone south of the Mason-Dixon line owned slaves and wanted to destroy the country and everything it supposedly stood for.   Truth is, most folks who fought for the South didn't own slaves and a lot of folks who fought for the union did.   Furthermore, a lot of folks on either side of "the line" found themselves supporting the "other" side---some in the ranks, some as partisans, and some just philosophically and/or monetarily.
Granted, the place where cccalco originally posted this thread was not appropriate as the movie does not present factual treasure hunting information......ON THE OTHER HAND, if the movie inspires even a few people to delve into our history and/or get involved in the hobby and do some REAL research, I'd say it is a good thing.   Besides a little bit of "escapism" can be good for the soul.

BA and RR are both right this and all the treasure movies are entertainment and when enjoyed as that then all is good but when that small group hold them up as proof of something  to feed their conspiracy theory's it become a problem for the whole treasure hunting world. The damn treasure reality shows have done more harm to us then 500 holes left in the park by an uncaring want to be, all the BS and conspiracy crap is making the word TREASURE HUNTER a joke to folks that don't understand what we really do. Real treasure hunters research and hunt treasure and from time to time find some, not cut and paste nonsense they rip off other sites because they are internet trolls.

I agree, research is a must but if a person believes 5-10% of it to be factual then the dissapointment at the end is not so hard to swollow and it wont get you down, I have never put faith into areas or stories and I am happy to find anything, its about the hunt not the stories that are based on BS, I dont think these stories belong on normal pages, maybe they belong under the heading Myths and Legends,
I think the movies spark up an interest in A subject but I would not put a lot of stock in them as they are often twisted way out of context,

O I agree and think the point BA was making was the movies may spark an interest in some folks to do some real research into the subject, hey works for me.

BA Is right because every time I see something in a movie I like to check up and find out more about the subject, I liked alot of National Treasures themes, IE:- I like the snow and those snow cats they drove, In fact I love gadgits and gizmos, but the story I would say in an ideal world was a nice dream but thats as far as it went because we know otherwise, The mysteries of the templar knights and the KGC along with the Illuminati etc will always hold over active minds to ransome, But it's such a shame people hang on to it as if it is their lifes blood and the stories have changed so much over the centuries that it is further from the truth and it is impossible to filter out the BS,

Well to many folks have zero common sense and no ability to tell fact from nonsense.
