Go Up Go Down

This weekend near Vernal, Utah I was able to see hundreds of Fremont Indian Petrglyphs and just wanted to post some pictures that I took...i have so many but can only select a few.  I just wanted to try and show the beauty of the area and only the tip of the iceberg of how many petroglyphs we saw.  I hope everyone enjoys these, and I will post some more pictures as I come across them on from the trip....thank you everyone for your interest, take care of yourselves and good luck hunting.

Those are some nice photos. It's hard to get petroglyphs to show up sometimes. Love the sun through the trees one.

If I have a large number of pictures or ones I want to keep larger than the allowed size here Photobucket works well.

Really enjoyed the petroglyphs - any idea how old they are? Were the Fremont a tribe of Indians - I'm not familiar with them, but they did nice art work. Sue

The fremont indians that lived in the area that I took these pictures were there from 400 A.D. to 1350 A.D.  Attached is a link to more information on these peoples.  take care everyone.

Definitely one of the advantages of living in our part of the country is getting to see all of the petroglyphs.   You've done a great job on capturing these

Thanks for sharing your experience with us those are incredible pictures.
We have some Pictos here in Texas but not as many as you may expect.
I have only seen them come out of the Pecos area and that is a long way from Dallas.

This pic is of Big horn Sheep, once extinct here, but with the help of a select group they are making a comeback.

Keep them comming we really like things like this, it reminds us that we were once the immigrants.

thank you all for your comments and your support.  while standing out there, as many of you probably have, you can't help but want to stay right there in that one spot, and wait for the answer as to what they were exactly saying come to you.  i have some very nice ones that i will post soon that are part petroglyph and part pictograph, very awesome pieces of work.  thank you everyone for your interests and comments, they are very valuable to me.

Toleary34, thanks for the furtrapper link, in general, and, specifically, for more information about the Fremont. I really like petroglyphs - I think the artists that did them might be amazed that they've lasted so long and how much we appreciate their work today. Looking forward to seeing some more of them. Sue
