Well all your responses made me laugh, maybe they should too. I'll let you in on a little secret, there are others out there who hold that belief that Big Foot guards sacred sites, which most likely have treasure in some form in them. I know where most of you here stand about such subjects. I was hoping for others to chime in.
The place I spoke of does exist. I never did find a hole big enough for a animal to get into the tall monument I was crawling up. I need to take more samples and figure out what they were digging there. I have tailing, and grottos, and what appears to be a city of stone behind this monument. I suspect backfilled holes to the mines.
Back when the Spanish was re called for war. They hastily covered their mines. The Indians took that a step further and destroyed signs and buried the mines even more. While the real story of Victorio Peak will never come out. I do believe there is enough proof there that it is one of many such finds in this area that says these places exist. The trail is not that hard to follow, even with 200 years of weather and urbanization. I only wish I had got started in the 70's.
