Hi all,

I started detecting 30 years ago but at that time did not know any other detectorists, did not read the specialist magazines nor did I join a club. I just went out and dug any strong positive signals - that's why I only ever found large copper coins, tin cans, lumps of iron and the like Sad.

About 6 years ago, at the age of 67, I decided to take the hobby seriously while still fit enough to do so. I joined a couple of clubs, subscribed to the two main magazines on the subject and get out searching as much as possible. This new approach means that I have been more successful (and luckier) than I was all those years ago. I love coins especially hammered and, in addition to numerous silver hammered, I have also recovered two hammered "gold", a full stater and a George III Sovereign.

My other passion is collecting and researching British military medals.
