If you go to the main page and scroll through our list of boards, you will find a couple that deal specifically with Treasure Hunting in Asia (including the Philippines) and with the Yamashita treasure legends.
As for detectors, some people build there own. You can find discussions of that in our Tech Talk area. However, it is something that requires more skill and patience than a lot of people have, so you may want to look for a used metal detector
